Ammunition for air guns come in many different shapes and sizes, the shooter can choose between many different calibers airgun bullets in, for example, 4.5mm, 5.5mm, 6.35mm etc. but also in inch sizes such as .177 .22, .25, .30 etc.

Weight and shape
But what is certainly not unimportant when choosing the right airgun bullets, also called pellets, is the weight and the shape. The weight is important considering the power of the airgun and the weight of the airgun pellet, for example: it is not wise to shoot a very heavy pellet in a light airgun, it will hit the groudn soon after leaving the barrel.

The shape is often determined by the target that the shooter has in mind, for example a shooter who wants to shoot very nice round holes in a paper target chooses a pellet with a round flat front, a shooter who wants to shoot targets at long range will often use a heavier aerodynamic bullet, and someone who wants to control pests and rodents takes a pellet with a point or a pellet with a hollow front that transfers a lot of energy to the animal.
